The University of Rome "Foro Italico" joins IDEM (IDEntity Management for federated access), the Italian Federation of Universities and Research Institutions for Authentication and Authorization.

IDEM, the first Italian Federation of Authentication and Authorization Infrastructures (AAI), aims to rationalize and simplify authentication systems to use services between different organisations. The entities involved share the same policies for exchanging information on users and available resources by forming a federation. In this scenario the users can access any service using their own organization's credentials.

IDEM membership offers users of the University of Rome "Foro Italico" the advantage of using only institutional credentials (username and password) to use all the resources available through IDEM.

All services that can be used through the Federation are made available by IDEM members and partners.

When the user requests access to a federated resource, the University Identity Provider issues only the attributes necessary for each individual Service Provider to provide the service, as reported in this information note.
